symbol on phone

Hi , Has anyone seen a Samsung Europa 15500 that has a permanent symbol of an arow pointing down to and underscore, it came on my phone last night and wont go away, my phone auto switched off last night to so my alarm didnt work this morning?

sounds familiar to one I had on a phone a couple of years ago.. if i remember rightly it was to do with an unsent message still sitting in the outbox..

It means it's downloading something.

As above, it means there's been an automatic update for an App downloaded to your phone.

If you look at your notifications screen it should disappear.

The one in the bottom left corner of page 19 of your user manual?

Hi, It is not the one on page 19 of the user manual it is not the same at the bottom of the arrow it is just a dash that I can see not like the symbol in the manual, notifications?? please advise this novice on how to see those please!!! Thanks all for your help so far much appreciated

To see notifications, drag the bar down.

Certainly sounds like the android symbol for downloading and updating things. Put your finger on the arrow or round about it, on the top of the screen and drag down. You can then see what apps have been downloaded/updated. If you plan to take the Europa abroad, you should perhaps download a little application called APN which enables you to toggle the internet on and off on this phone. Noticed after I bought the phone that we couldn't turn off net on it.

Yes, i think it means something's being downloaded.
Not 100% sure though.

Mazza111, thanks very much it was indeed a download of a pic for some strange reason but the symbol has now gone. Next thing, how do I look at the switching off interenet abroad, have been once since i had the phone and had a larger than expecetd bill, this may be the reason for that bill. I must apologise I have only ever had Nokia phones and am finding this Samsung rather less user friendly than Nokia`s. But with a little help fromk some friends I will get there :-)

Go to Settings/Wireless and network/Mobile network settings

In there should be the option to turn off data roaming.
