[FONT="] My Mother has recently joined another landline provider after being a customer of Talk Talk since 2008 to be told that she has to pay a contract Breakage fee due to the fact that they put her on a new contract in March 2011 ( Something that at 73 years of age she was not aware off) . Has anyone else had similar problems.

I know it's harsh, but Talk Talk wont have just let a customer walk through the gateway, they will have sent correspondence about the charges and probably called 2 or 3 times as well, they are quite tenacious.
One piece of advice i would always give, if there is ANYTHING on your bill, for any service, you dont like or are unhappy with. First port of call is the provider. If then at the end of the call you are unsatisfied, it's time to look around.
You can dispute it or if it's a silly amount, speak to new provider about cooling off period and see if Talk Talk can compromise.0 -

Yes, I had an account where an agent, without my knowledge, signed me up for a further 18 months - no correspondance, no calls, only reason I found out is because I have a deep mistrust of this companys practices.
Contact the High Level Complaints team. Talk Talk now, alledgedly, have a team that deals with misselling and issues such as this. They will be able to listen to the call.
This is a MAJOR issue I have with talktalk, cold-calling customers - especially the elderly, and tricking them into renewing even when there account permissions are set to prevent these calls.
The current issue (last week) where they happened to change a lot of users permissions to allow cold-calling stinks, is a total and utter breach of data protection principles, and should see the people involved before a judge to answer for it.0 -
They renewed my contract after a phone call where the only conversation was whether I wanted to change tariff - which I declined.
I will never ever ever go back to TT for this and other incredibly appalling scam-type behaviour when I tried to leave / moved house.0 -
In 2006, I dumped Talk Talk and went to another provider for my calls. The changeover went without a hitch and I never heard from Talk Talk again.
However, four-and-a-half years later, in January 2011, I received a bill from Talk Talk for £1.23p. This related to 2 phone calls which I had allegedly made on their system (which, of course, wasn't true). After many phone calls to TT, and my existing provider, I eventually received an apology from TT.
This firm is worth watching, even after you have left them.0 -
Hi gtfc,
We would neeed to look at the details of the contract renewal. The customer should ALWAYS be made aware of any renewal of their contract temr to ensure they are aware of any breakage fees etc should they cancel before the contracted term is completed.
Would it be possible for the customer to contact us so we can investigate into this.
regards
Mark

Forget the High Level Complaints Team...write directly to Tim Morris, Group Director Legal Affairs...he is also their Company Secretary so he has a legal responsibility for the reasonable and fair conduct of TalkTalk's business...use the Evesham St address and Good Luck0 -
