Is that the one in the centre? Not been in for a while as the department store side is Beales?

Yes the one in Beales. Not changed since the takeover - the Co-op itself is still a bit shabby looking but handy if I am using the bus!

Mcvities biscuit tins RTC £2.25 (I think) but inside is £1 off your next purchase of the same thing. Shame I bought the last three without realising . May be worth a look locally, also edinburgh shortbread tins down to £1.75.

  • Cadburys Festive Friends are 37p at the moment
Lovely tin of shortbread £1.50 ish
    pepsi 2 ltr 94p
all christmas stock reduced as someone said £5 xmas cake now £2
    Danone snackpots 37p

I hate working for the co-op, i spend so much money in there, especially working evenings when the final reductions are done :(
  • I go in to my local Co-op for the reductions, and cook around what I get. Xmas and New Year is always especially good for big reductions, as is summer time if the weather is !!!! and they've bought in loads of BBQ stuff they can't sell. This week I've got a fresh turkey crown (8lb weight) reduced from £23 to a fiver. It's done a giant jalfrezi for 8 people and 2 big roast dinners for 2, with leftovers for sandwiches tomorrow! Also a whole chicken (£1.25), 8 yorkshire puds (30p), pot of fresh tomato & basil pasta sauce (30p), 2 bags of fresh gnocchi for 45p each (froze one bag, ate the other with a pack of broccoli and asparagus that I got for 30p). Also steak mince 250g for 70p (will probably chuck that in to the pasta sauce next week for a quick and easy bolognese), and new covent garden soup for 50p. I try and get stuff I can pop in to the freezer, but if there are veggies on the cheap as well as meat, I'll buy a load, bung it all in the slow cooker, make big casseroles and then freeze the portions. I've been pretty much living out of the reductions section for the last three years and manage to eat very well. I think my best bargain was a leg of lamb for £2.50. I bought 2. Roasted one, and chopped up the other for a nice cheeky lamb bhuna :-)

Got some chickens this morning, though the 3 for £10 didn't kick in, for £2 each.
  • Got 30 mini chuppa chups lollies today for 19p the pack - halloween branding but who cares!
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow
  • had my £1.50 3 chicken breasts with my £1 veg, and an 85p chocolate fudge brownie pudding. A family meal for 3 for £3.35!

Maybe we can compare prices and see if it depends on the store, mine is definitely more expensive than waitrose, it could be because there is no real competition nearby.
Next time I go I will write down prices so that we can compare :)

it's taken me a while, but I've now been back to the co-op, this time I checked their prices with stuff I just bought from other supermarkets, and my local co-op is incredibly expensive, and I find quality is appalling,
we've even had to stop buying their bread because the changed quality and it tastes funny.

(these are not offers in particular but general prices for comparison)

    Yorkshire Tea Decaf 80 bags £ 2.85 (S's is 2.68, Waitr. is 2.86)
KitKat 9x2 fingers £1.89 (Same as S and W, price fixing anyone...?)
    Grapes 400g £2, half price, original price £4. (S £2.50 reduced to £2 but for 500g, Waitrose £2.87 for 500g)
    Hovis 400g 78p (S 66p W 70p)
Seemed to have good offers for vegs though, but I don't buy them from there because I find quality much worse than other supermarkets.
    But got a bag of parsnips at 55p for 500g, half price (£1 S, £1.05 on offer £1.50 for 2 at W).

So practically everything I looked at is v. expensive except fresh produce offers. Also saw lots of reduced stuff, only about 25% off mostly, but a few bargains like salads BBD today at 55p, large bag of pots 50p (original price £1).

It would be interesting to see if other branches have the same prices though.

I posted the low carb offers in 'Low carb bargains at supermarkets' thread today. They include chicken, salmon, pork, carrots, strawberries and Loyd Grossman sauces.

I can't find a picture but the vacuum packed beef in rectangular boxes in the chiller are 2 for £7 or £4 each and I've taken a shine to them since discovering them 4 weeks ago. I used to buy Morrison's version at 2 for £6 but they stopped selling them, and I found these in Co-op at the same time as an Asda version (same pricing as Co-op but not as good a product).
I don't use C-op for anything else as they are much too expensive (though i did go for their £3 meal deal on my last visit cause I had a rumblers pot voucher to use and it could be used with meal deal), but I make a 15 mile round trip just to get the beef 'joint' as it has a long life (2 - 4 weeks) and 7 Pro Points per 1/2 joint (husband and I share a box for evening meal)

For those with a pharmacy have you seen this voucher on the Coupon thread:

    http://www.co-operative.coop/membership/membership2/pdfs/pharmacy_coupon.pdf

Unfortunately there isn't a co-op with pharmacy anywhere near me
    The end is nigh
