Traveling to New Zealand this Friday - Nokia 3310 - will it work

Nokia 3310 on O2 Pay As You Go in the UK. Travelling to Singapore (3 days) then New Zealand for a month, leaving Friday 9th Feb.

- Will this phone work in NZ?
- Will I be able to top up when I get there?
- Any bolt-ons or deals I should get before I go?
- Any funky codes I need to dial to top up, text, call out?

Any help greatfully received.

nz uses 900mhz and 1800 mhz same as uk (it says here http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_nz.shtml)
you maybe better unlocking your phone 1st (can be done easily with free code on here)
and buying a payg sim in nz as it should be cheaper to make calls

yep this was my first port of call before posting here. Loads of information about Europe, very little beyond. Nothing about how to top up in New Zealand so posted here in search of end user feedback.

O2 has just launched a great roaming deal, but only for Europe

Get either a Vodafone UK SIM on Passport, or a Vodafone NZ SIM (or both)

using the UK one would mean 75p per call connect fee, then incoming time free, outgoing at same as home tariff (you'd probably use mainly off-peak, local time), and you can use local vouchers to top up
