Do promo CDs & vinyls sell well on Ebay?
Comments

You need to specifically state on your auction that what your selling is a promo. I've bought cds before, and have sent them back to the seller because they hadn't stated promo in their description. I don't collect promos or eastern european imports, so ain't happy when I purchase one and it has been described.
It also depends what you are selling. If they are rareities, then go for it, if not I'd sell em as a job lot.0 -
I put they are all promos.
Most look no different than shop ones but I did mention that the Chas & Dave had no artwork and was in a cellophane envelope.
I remember a couple of years ago my male mates would play 'aint no pleasing you' when we got back from a night on the razzle!!
Brings back memories!!
Does anyone want it for nowt?
Send me a PM if you do.Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

I have noted CDs are being sold for pennies online so I am considering if it is worth the time and effort, plus greedy Ebay fees, to list them.
Some music promos go for huge money, others go for the proverbial song. Do yourself a huge favour and research closing prices of previous listings. Also I'd suggest you wait for the next 10p Fixed Price listing day so you can list items for cheap. I'd price them at 10-15% below average closing price if you get a good sell-through rate and clear them out. Rare or hard-to-find promo items you might want to put in 10-day auctions (so you get two weekends of eyeballs) starting at 99p. There also specialist record auctions that may achieve good prices, so do some research in the past sale price catalogues. You can always phone or email the auction houses to ask them what sells. Also don't overlook Amazon when selling rare promo CDs or vinyl.me4bargains wrote:Update: I had one listing removed 45 minutes after i listed it. It was a Chas & Dave CD so you'd think they'd be chuffed somoone actually had one in their possession... I got the standard incoherrent one-sided waffle from Ebay:
...these items breached one or more of our policies and had to be removed from the site: 230088026156 - CHAS & DAVE - GREATEST HITS
You may not list unauthorised copies of media on our site because selling them is both illegal and against eBay policy...
So the reason why my listing was removed is as clear as mud!!
If your item was a genuine original you can appeal the removal. eBay Trust & Safety staff will often remove potentially counterfeit items for no reason. Be prepared to forward photos of the genuine item against today's newspaper masthead (so they know you have it in your possession).
When selling some newer promo items be aware of the small print that may say item still belongs to record label or other caveats. Usually not a problem except with a few minor labels. Promos can often be found in the used sections of many music stores - usually dumped there by music reviewers or radio stations."Money is truthful. Maybe ebay are just trying to improve the standard of music available to the listening public, and pulling this CD was part of their public-spiritedness.

BaffExclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
Should OF, would OF. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.0 -
Probably got pulled for the "plastic sleeve" comment, as some eagle-eyed user assumed it was an illegal copy.
Any PSB stuff, you can chuck 'em my way! It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0
