Getting a cheap O2 handset
I'm in need of a cheapish O2 handset and have been looking at PAYG phones from CPW as they are normally unlocked ( is this true ? ).
Unfortunately you have to purchase at least £10 of credit when you buy a PAYG, is there anyway I can get some of this back, i.e. can I sell the PAYG sim on ebay or something ?.
Thanks.

Have you already got an O2 sim? If so, why dont you use the credit yourself?
When i bought a phone on vodafone from CPW it was unlocked. The mandatory £10 top-up was on a top-up swipe card.
Instead of linking this to the sim they supplied, i linked it to my existing Vodafone sim and therefore used the credit on my own voda sim0 -

I've got an O2 contract sim which when I rang up to get my PAC to move to Tesco Mobile they reduced my line rental to £6 a month and gave me £75 credit which if I stay within my minutes and texts means I'll make £3 on the year !!!. The only problem is I need a new handset now.0 -

Not a lot really. £60 max, would like a flip phone if poss, have been using a Motorola v545 for the last couple of years but would like something a bit smaller/lighter without a protruding aeriel. Keep finding reasonable deals on non O2 handsets, e.g. Motorola V360 on Vodaphone for £25 + £10 topup and a PEBL U6 on Orange for £55 including £5 credit. Obviously I'd then have to pay to get either of these unlocked.
Any suggestions ?.0 -
On the O2 website they have the The Sony Ericsson Z530i is available for £59.99 or the The Motorola W220 is available for £49.99 both flip phone dont know if any of those are any good to you0

if you are already on o2, go into the o2 store and ask for an upgrade, they will then see what discount you can have and if you have been on a while or spent a lot on payg then it works out reasonable, but they are locked.
plus you will get to try them out, make sure you like it before you spend any money, a cheap phone you don't like or can't use very easily is no kind of bargainthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

The deal I've accepted on the phone is a new 12 month contract without a handset so the upgrade option is a no go ( guess the £75 credit is in lieu of a handset ? ).0
