Quite annoyed at my jobcentre adviser

  • OP Why is someone you used to work with dealing with your claim? He/she could be being more hard on you so that they dont get accused of favouritism which isnt fair on you.
This seems a bit unethical to me.

OP the interview your going for on Monday is it for the company direct or an agency?

It was through an agency but the interview is with the company.

This seems a bit unethical to me.

Unless I sign at a different office which would take me 90mins each way to get to I have no choice :(

I have just worked it out though my JSAG states that I will travel 90minutes each way subject to public transport.

I used travel line and google and worked out that it would take me 99minutes to get to Norwich city bus station and the earliest I can get there is 835am. So that is my 90minutes up already, of course I will travel that distance for a job but I will be difficult since he has decided to be difficult if this comes back on me.

I will be making a complaint though about the way he made me feel by force matching me to a job that infact does not match my JSAG regarding distance and confusion over vacancy location.

How can I start a job that I cannot physically get to? I can not get into my nearest town before 930am on a Saturday so a job that starts at 9am on Saturday is out of the question, even if I did apply then couldn't get there I'd not get the job.

It isn't a restriction by choice it is reality.

Hold on an hour and fifteen minutes on public transport is an annoyance not unrealistic

Before 930AM is there definitely NO trains or buses or are they just less frequent?

The first bus that leaves mine on a Sat leaves at 850am. I am not worried about travelling time I am worried about being able to get there at all.

You're not being forced to take the job. You're being asked to apply for it. Why get yourself worked up about it until you at least find out the work times first?

If the times arent suitable then tell the agency/employer that you cant get there in time to start. If the employer ask why you applied for it then tell them the working hours werent advertised.

All you have to is do apply. If you're really not keen on it or it isnt practical, then 'fail' the application or 'fail' the interview.

I think I would fail anyway, they are looking for enthusiastic sales people, the ability to persuade and strong sales skills.....not me at all.

I did see another adviser last time mine was off sick who thinks the job titles on my jsag are wrong and selling myself short so will ask for a review as well as a change of adviser.

Walking to the next bus stop for a different bus would take 30-45minutes, couldn't cycle as nowhere to leave a bike and not allowed bikes on buses here. Just not realistic in bad weather which would leave me unreliable.

I like to be reliable and part of that is knowing I can quite easily get to a job no matter what the weather if I can.
