Best Mobile Unit (have poor coverage)
Options
Hi, can anyone advise me on the best mobile unit.
I live in the sticks and the mobile coverage is poor (I cant receive any signal in my house - O2 has the best coverage). That having been said I know from past experience that some units pick up a signal better than others because the receiver differs on some phones. (also had a friend stopping that could pick up a signal on her phone - blackberry curve - quite expensive.....!)
Has anyone any advice?
Thanks

Firstly, reception tends to be better for 2g signal. You can try switching 3g off.
Also, old phones, e.g. nokia, are known to have better antennas.
And finally, Vodafone offer Sure Signal boxes that work through broadband connection: http://www.vodafone.co.uk/personal/price-plans/network-and-coverage/sure-signal/index.htm. Orange offer UMA that works only on some smartphones, but with any WiFi router: http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?c=OUKService&pagename=OUKPersonal&cid=13068431767980 -
Hi. thanks for the reply.
I have tried the vodafone route - what they dont tell you when you buy the unit is you also need a good broadband signal strength (which I dont have) lol.
I have a old Nokia at the moment but alas it doesnt pick up a signal.0
