Heating Coming on when timer set to off

5 degrees, our house and all pipework is very well insulated, we have frost stats in draughty spots in the loft and under the floor, next to the water and heating pipes.
Ours never came on at all last winter as there was very little wind when it was cold.0 -
It could be your diverter valve, I had this problem months ago, if you've got a tank in your airing cupboard there's probably a white plastic box on the side of it. This will be sticking, give it a smack, this'll turn it off.0

Bit puzzled by that, if the boiler is switched off how would the diverter valve sticking switch the heating on?0 -
Dunno, maybe I've used the wrong word? When my timer was supposed to turn the heating off, it would turn the boiler off but the noise would still go on, until I hit the plastic box attached to the side of the tank, then it'd stop. Thought this could be same problem.0

Is it a combination boiler or do you have a cylinder? Do you have a seperate roomstat?(Temperature dial normally in hallway).0
