High Quality Screw Multipacks

Options
I've currently got a huge assortment of low quality screws that stirp easily and are just generally a bit crap.

I fancy one of those large metal boxes with an assortment of various screws in them... can anyone recommend some good kits...

I screw in to masonary, plasterboard and wood...

  • Any of the goldscrew cases from screwfix would do

And it'd probably pay to buy some good screwdrivers/bits if you find you're strippling lots. If you're using an electric drill make sure the torque setting is set low.

    these are pretty good value.

dont buy from BQ etc... expensive for items like screws etc...
    Get some gorm.
  • "Spax" make decent screws, I think they are German if your looking for best quality screws try and buy Winzer-Wurth screws. They are German made,German quality .They have 2 types Ecofast and Wupofast, the only difference is Ecofast are designed to countersink in easier.

If you can't get them then go for "Spax" ,I think screwfix sell them which is unusual as Screwfix (in my opinion) tend to sell rubbish....

Speaking as a qualified Joiner they are the ones I recommend.........

    Thanks for all the replies...

this may be a silly question, but all of the packs linked to are for wood screws... is it worth getting a seperate set of screws for putting into cocnrete/pb walls?

I'd assume that it doesn't matter as the screws always go into a plug which is wall specific?

Wood screws are fine in brickwork/concrete generally use Red plugs (5.5mm masonry drill bits) and Brown plugs (7mm drill bits)........

Screwfix and B&Q both owned by the same company? Well that what I thought.

If you want to screw into concrete use Tapcon screws screfix part number 76958, no need for plastic plugs. Or ones by Heco part number 45200.
Have a look at the manufactureres website for approvals and loads.

B & Q own Scewfix but they sell different makes/quality of stuff and even if they had an item that was the same make and quality it is likely to be the same price. Generally I have found Screwfix to be cheaper than B & Q but even they are undercut by other companies. You need to shop around online, certainly look at Toolstation who I have found to be better priced and provide free delivery when you spend just £10 (as opposed to Scewfix who have free delivery when you spend £45). Screwfix and Toolstation are both geared to the trade but welcome anyone either online or at their trade counters usually found on industrial estates.

Gold screws case would be a good choice, coupled up with some quality nylon plugs, and a few plasterboard fixings.
  • Screwfix is the best option, as others have suggested as well.
