ask your husband to save it as a pdf file and then email it as an attachment , as long as you have adobe reader http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/ then you should be able to open it
other ise you could just get your husband to copy and paste it into an email

Is this one of those cases where a Word/works file is sent by email purely because that was what was used to type the original message. This is when the message is just text with a bit of formatting.

Is it not possible for your husband to simply copy and paste the text into the email? Or convert to HTML and send that.

Personnel (HR) departments in big companies do this a lot, blocking the company's email system with megabytes of word files when the actual content is simple text.

  • I had exactly the same problem as this yesterday with loads of recipes that I used Microsoft works to create, I downloaded the ms word viewer as that claimed to open .wps files but had the same result as above.

I searched further online and found an online converter which was free which you uploaded the .wps file to and it then emailed you a link to download it as your chosen output file type.

    http://www.zamzar.com/ was the site I used:D
  • using zamzar worked..thankyou

Do yourself a favour, and download a Libreoffice - it's free and it will open pretty much any file type you can throw at it including Works .WPS and even old stuff like Star Writer, Wordstar and Word Perfect.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.

If there are no graphics involved, a simpler idea would be to copy the text into Windows' Notepad. Just about anything can open the resulting .txt file.
