Lender has no record of our mortgage??

Don't be so silly.considered as a last resort stopping the payments and await the letter demanding it be paid, then at least we will have some point of contact with a reference number.0 -

I take it you pay by direct debit, if so call your bank and ask for the reference number that is linked to the direct debit.
They should then be able to trace your details with this number.0 -
Basically they have no record of our application, the offer or sending our solicitor (now retied) the money. But our solicitor received it and sent it to the house builder. We have been in the house well over a year.

Solicitors keep all files for at least six years (potential negligence or breach of contract claims). Your file will be archived somewhere. Even the solicitor worked for a firm of solicitors, they will still have the file even though the particular solicitor has retired. If s/he was a sole practitioner, then the files will have been passed to another firm of solicitors. You are entitled to have the file, and your local law society should be able to tell you which firm now has it.
But to be honest, the first port of call should be to get a copy of your title deeds from the land registry. You can do this on-line for a small fee (from memory I think it is about £5) this will tell you if the lenders charge is registered.I'm a retired employment solicitor. holly hobby - We have got the LR details and the Clydesdale are listed as the lender so thats a start. And cancelling payments will be a very last resort. Will also look into credit reports. thanks
ACG - As above yes taking payment, I called the lender today no manager available . . . . . but they said they could look and nothing not even spelling names different.
Wh05apk - You would think the offer would have a ref number wouldn't you, but nope. Whilst our advise is suffering from a long term illness she is still looking into it, but naturally, we do not want to hassle her. She has provided us with copies of everything she has.
DVardysShadow - we are more concerned about effect of their errors on our rating than thinking this could be written off as their mistake so we owe nothing scenario.

somethingcorporate - More of an explanation than opinions4u i guess, but as said last resort, do you not have any 2nd to last resort suggestions? If we have followed all enquiries (we haven't yet) what else would you do?
Polmop - Got that, thanks. Putting a letter together to their mortgage dept manager with that and the land registry copy and a copy of the mortgage offer.
zzzLazyDaisy - The solicitor was a partner in a small firm which has shut its doors forever as the both of them have now retied, the files are now kept by another local solicitor firm who bought their client list. We have used this other firm before as they handled my parents estate. However things are never that easy - all the files have gone into storage and they are in the process of hunting ours out for us. LR copy in hand too, many thanks.

Beats going through your paperwork which will provide you with the answer or any of the numerous other suggestions that you'd already had.
Is it a new build? Are they still addressing stuff to a plot number?0 -

Why so angry? as said before . . . not paying is a LAST RESORT!!!!!! to get a reaction from them. They can not reposes the house or take us to court with out 1st notifying us as to their intentions which then gives us a point of contact who might listen to the customer. And lets face it if they don't contact us because they don't know who we are then they can't send us a court order.
I have taken on board the suggestions and actioned them this evening as they have pointed me in the right direction rather than throwing insults with out back up suggestions.
We have no paper work from them just the offer!!!!!!! they never sent any more as said at the beginning of the post,
They do not recognise the address as it is now or as it was as plot number and site name.
The point is they paid for nearly half this house and they say they have no record of it. So won't send us a statement. Not the fact we won't pay it because we think they won't notice.0 -

I for give your curiosity kingstreet - Only ever had a mortgage offer from them, not sure what a KFI is anyway??
Its an interest only 2 year deal (but going to start looking in spring for a new deal and wanted to get paper work ready) this was discounted by 2% or something.
We only got it as we could not sell our old house in time (now renting it out) its for 131000 (inc charges)
News is - solicitors has found a load of paper work we can collect next week, hopefully more info in there somewhere.
They were an utter nightmare for some stats which ring true and were the same period as we were applying, you will need to search mortgagestrategy co uk for clydesdale complaints to see what i mean, as a new user i can not post links0
