Ok so accepting that that is the case, ie anti fraud, is it only me that thinks a little more publicity would enable the general public to understand and react accordingly to the threat?
IE, suspect the older book??I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

No, I agree completely. When the one for OH's car came the other month our first thought was 'is the car a write off or something?' having never seen a CAT D etc log book.0 -
One of the changes with the new V5 is that it is not possible for the registered keeper to tell DVLA they have scrapped the vehicle as they have removed the section which allows the RK to tick the box to say they have scrapped it and then send the V5 to DVLA. The only way olf scrapping a vehicle with this V5 is to take it to an authorised scrap dealer."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Hi, look I'm not questioning you here but didn't we all take our cars to a registered scrap dealer previously?? or at least to a yard that we considered registered for their buisiness purposes, IE, reducing cars to scrap metal ????I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

No, you didn't have to. You could have dismantled it at home and sent the V5 off to DVLA with the scrapped box ticked and they would then record it as scrapped. I certainly did it with my wifes scooter a couple of years ago. But you can't self scrap now. You could still take a vehicle apart but you would have to SORN it."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Interesting - probably completely random then. Out of our five cars only the two year old one has had the new red V5 so far. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
