My Sebo x4 has an extra long hose (extra to the one supplied) that you can use. It will stretch from the bottom to the top of the stairs easily. There's a choice of two attachments to put on the end of the hose.

My dyson gets reversed to the bottom step and then I pull the pipe out of the flexi hose bit and stick the brush on the end of it. This will then get me to the top step. Then I carry the hoover up the stairs and do the landing. It has got more flexible over the years though. It used to be a nightmare when I first got it as it just didn't seem to have enough stretch.

  • I have henry the hoover, he only reaches 3/4 of the way up. I got so fed up lugging him upstairs that I bought another (cheap) hoover to keep in an upstairs cupboard. So I use henry for downstairs and the 1st half the stairs or so, and the other hoover for the top half. Soooooooooo much easier and worth the £££!!

That's the one I have, the hose extension is so useful for the stairs and hall/landing where we have no sockets. It's also excellent for the car.

  • You can get generic hose extensions that fit most cleaners, or some appliance spares places sell hose by the metre.
