Kindle cover has marked my pride and joy

Hi,
I was given a nice shiny new Kindle a couple of weeks back as a gift, and also a leather cover to protect it. Now, after a couple of weeks of use, I took my new prized possession out of its case, and found that colour from the case had stained the back of the kindle in many places.
I contacted the company I got the case from - they said they knew about this and normally send a plastic protector to help avoid this (which I didn't receive .. and would never have used the case if I'd been at all aware of this!).
Now, what redress can I expect from the company - I'd like them to either fix the damage that their product has caused, or replace it with a new one - do I have a right to expect either of these outcomes?
Opinions greatly appreciated, thanks.

if the case has damaged your kindle and the company admit that this is an existing problem that they know about they should pay to fix the problem. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Thanks for that - I'm going to send the company involved an email requesting that they rectify the damage .. I will wait with interest to see what excuse they come up with ..0

although they should fix it, I imagine they will resist doing this so I would be prepared to argue about it!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I'm waiting for them to suggest T-cut or acetone

Hmmm trying to remember what gets hair dye out of skin........nope! Cant remember. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Try perfume/deodorant its usually a good way to get colour transfer off, spray some on a tissue and wipe it gently on the surface (works really well when 'permanent' marker gets on plastic too.0

I like the suggestions! I will try later to see if that works .. (although I'll perhaps avoid perfume, maybe a dash of Old Spice instead?).0

obviously if you're a bloke and you don't want a kindle smelling of flowers then use old spice lol
any aftershave/perfume will do (its the alcohol in it that does its thing)0 -
Does the Kindle still work? Does it look okay in the cover? Have you tried cleaning it? Does the problem spoil your enjoyment of the books you read?0

The Kindle itself works perfectly well .. the cover fits ok, but the fact that it has damaged the aesthetics is not ok. I don't intend to use it all of the time in its cover for one thing, and knowing that it is brand new and has a load of marks on the back of it does spoil my enjoyment ...
I bought the cover to protect it from cosmetic damage!0 -

...really? Something you can't see while using it normally spoils your enjoyment?

I bought mine to protect it from serious damage..it's worked! It's been dropped/bashed a few times and still functions perfectly.
I think you are being 'picky' IMHO.0
