It depends if your mental illnesses mean that you need to park closer to shops etc. If you get HRM DLA then that automatically entitles you to a BB.

As I understand it, it's incredibly rare to get HRM for mental illness alone and it's also rare to get a BB on mental illness alone if you don't get HRM, if that makes sense.

I cant imagine how you can, you often have to proof to the authority why you need one this usually involves walking as a test my daughter got turned down despite walking with crutches.
  • I know a few people that have BBs for mental health difficulties. Because the scheme is adminstered on a local basis, the practical steps are receiving one vary significantly. You need to speak to your LA and ask what their process is.

Bipolar covers a wide range of symptoms, you can't compare the experience of one to another. The only way to get an answer is to apply.

Surly if they are that mentally disabled they need a blue badge they shouldn't operate a vehicle in the first place.
Where did OP state they were the driver? BB can be provided for use of a passenger!

You don't have to be a driver to have a BB. I have a BB but don't drive. x

They don't have to. Read the question in post 1 again and stop putting your interpretation on it!
