Lots of words but doesn't answer the question. Did they specifically agree you could use your NCD for both cars.

So what would you have done if they asked for proof of NCD, seeing as you had none?

The last line of your post sums you up, you will not listen to any of what is standard industry practice so I will bow out.

Seems quite clear, the op appears to have disclosed all the material facts, and advised the new insurer by phone, so the conversation will be recorded somewhere.
They don't appear to have used the ncd on the new car without advising the insurer it was already in use on the old one.
Maybe the new insurer just decided they were a good risk, and matched the ncd on the second car?

    He said that was OK

    Who said I had none?

After all your entitlement to NCD doesn't vanish just because you don't show someone a piece of paper printed from an emailed PDF.

The only paper proof I have of my insurance, past and present is a piece of paper I printed from an emailed link to a website.

So you are saying that although I disclosed everything about leaving the old policy running I am not insured just because you say so, even when my present insurer says I am.

I'd rather believe my insurance company over you.

Is there any statute or law that says that?
NCD is not enshrined in law. It is simply part of the pricing mechanism that most insurers use. What has been said by others here is quite correct.

Looks like you have been lucky. If your new insurer knew that your NCD was in use on another car, they would probably have charged you more.

Clearly you believe that you would not have any problems but if I was insuring a brand new car I wouldn't take that chance.

As I said, NCD is not a legal entitlement. Insurers can do as they wish which could mean that could give you maximum NCD if they wanted, with or without proof. They could even add on a couple of years, for example to match a quote you get elsewhere.

Am I missing something? Retiredlso has said multiple times that his insurance company are fully aware of the circumstances and anyway, his NCB isn't in use on two cars, the old one has been scrapped
......I then told Swinton my old car had been scrapped because it had failed its MOT and was uneconomical to repair. Which it was, I got £150 for it........

I thought he said the old policy was left running.

Yep, he did, but the car was scrapped hence zero chance of a claim or a reduction in ncb

I think some posters don't think any insurer would offer a deal to a new customer.
Despite repeatedly being told the insurer is aware, I think it would take the insurer to come on and post to confirm it.

And if they did would they not be breaking some data protection law?
I think some posters don't think any insurer would offer a deal to a new customer.

    And why not?

Some posters post on here believing what they say is gospel and how dare someone post that it is not.

We have a serious lack of confidence problem on these forums.

What I posted is correct and if you can't believe that what I posted was correct then you have a serious lack of confidence in yourself problem.

After all why would I make something like that up? I thought I would help the OP by telling the OP what I did.

Try to be helpful and all the nitpickers come out.
