There NEVER has been and there NEVER will be a hurricane in the UK. Faux "hurricanes" created by the media aren't hurricanes.
Anyway, as the question in hand, who has decided that you should all take 1/2 day to make up for it? Presumably it isn't the HR department trying to create problems by trying to make decisions outside their remit.
I beg to differ. The hurricane that hit Scotland in September when I was there was still classified as a hurricane by the Meteorlogical Office. They may not be all that good at getting the forecast right, but I assume they know weather when they see it.0 -

They may have said it had hurricane force winds but they would never have classified it as a hurricane. A true hurricane can only exist when the surrounding sea water is warm enough - as found near the tropics. Outside of that there are just very severe storms.
Anyway, I'm the sure the OP didn't want the thread to turn into a discussion on the weather so I'll leave the wind talk to another time!

The term used is Huricane force winds, only 73mph or above.

I would ask to just make the time up and make sure that if the offer is made in the future, whether it is addiitonal time off or if annual leave is to be used. Cheeky of the company to do so though.matched betting: £879.63

Thank you for your replies.

I agree it's not worth picking a battle as having enough problems geting TOIL days I am due before the end of the year. So I'm afraid I will not be making up the 2 hours.
But it's good to know I am right. Thank you
Use the TOIL this is a test for getting the rest of it and negotiating carry over.
Let all the others know their rights.
