Orange LLU query - help!!

So, this is my story....
We've been with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange for about 4 years now, never having changed because we've been more than happy with the service we've had. Up until now.
We're still on the £17.99 p/mth tariff, and I've been thinking about moving for a while, as we need to tighten the purse strings. On Thursday, I found that I could no longer access the internet for more than 30 secs at a time, and that's when I could actually get on. However, when I could get on, we were getting speeds of 3.5 mbps, rather than the 1 mbps we originally had.
We called many, many times and were told that there's an upgrade going on at the moment (then we were told that it was complete, then that it wasn't, then that it was! )
We've now been told that the upgrade is due to complete on Tuesday (Feb 6th), but that our modem (SpeedTouch 330) can't cope with higher speeds. So, for this reason, we have to switch to a Livebox, and paying £12.99 p/mth, which I'm not willing to pay. (Can you see what's coming??)
So, I just called them for a MAC code, as we've decided to try Sky BB, but the guy said that this upgrade is to an LLU line (at which point I inwardly groaned). So, if we do get the MAC code within the 48 hr turnaround period, the upgrade to LLU will probably be completed, and then Sky won't accept the LLU MAC code.
Nightmare eh?
So, what I want to know is, if I call Orange and ask them to cancel our BB account, which they have said they can do (but we have to give them 30 days notice, then 10 days to clear the line of all products), can I then, after that, sign up to Sky BB?
Sorry if I've babbled, hope someone can help me!
Many TIA,
Suzie

I think other providers like Tiscalli accept the LLU Mac code. This is what I have been told by a Tiscalli advisor.0

So they are reducing your payments from £17.99 to £12.99 and giving you a free Livebox to presumably enable a faster connection speed? What's the problem? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks Fai, but we particularly want to try Sky.If you have good thoughts, they'll shine out of your face like sunbeams & you'll always look lovely.0
