wich H7 headlamp bulbs recomendations?

what im looking for.

a different style brilliant white, with maybe some purple, blue green tint, thats road legal.

upgraded, from the standard to provide better vision with a bit uniqueness.

what i wont FIT, Hella, ring, bosch, halfords and chinese makes.

why do i want to upgrade, well a bulb has gone already, i bought a set of H7 at a local factors he had none left exept for aftermarket illegal stuff, that worked out cheaper. fitted it and its a high blue tint with yellow and white, 10000k bulb, was travelling over the welsh mountain llanwunno to get to my destination of aberdare and ideally you dont want a bulb out going over it.
my intention is to remove those bulbs and replace with much more better ones, current ones fitted are the Evo performance spectra xenons 10000k 100 watts, replaced as a pair in meardy village as had one dimm yellow bulb and a high blue bulb so fitted them both.

any suggestions welcome my cost limit is around £25.00 the pair, (halfords own make are £26.99 A BULB )

I pretty much always buy from these guys http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/

I swore by the Ring Xenon Max, when I had the 306, they made a massive difference.
It's pointless on my Vectra due to the projection headlamps which have a very severe cutoff line, thus brighter bulbs actually makes it harder to see due to the extreme contrast between light/dark.

Halfrauds should be ashamed of their prices.....

100w bulbs are a real pain when someone decides to drive and blind you with them.
  • another +1 for autobulbs direct. I have always bought bulbs from them. If you subscribe to their mailing list, you'll occasionally receive a 10% discount coupon. :)

For about £12 you get a xenon gas filled bulb which gives a crisp white light with a hint of blue. Ive actually got these in my front fogs and main beam. Colour temp is around 6500k.

Well done. You have illegal headlight bulbs and you're a danger to other road users. I would imagine your driving skills are also quite low.

Stay away from colours - they just look tacky.

While remaining legal, I found Osram Nightbreakers to be good (there is now a Nightbreaker Plus) and Philips Xtreme pretty much the same.

I used these to great effect before I retrofitted HID projectors.
  • E-marked white bulbs are not illegal. I have had these bulbs installed in my car for the past 8 years, possibly more without incident. I believe it may have been the 'xenon' bit that threw you ;) These are not HID's but normal filament bulbs filled with xenon gas which burns whiter than halogen bulbs. The 55 Watt bulbs are perfectly legal. Please get your facts right before slating others on this forum. I dont know what driving skills have to do with it.

well done, youve shown yourself up, yes they maybe illegal, but is better than driving accross a mountain with no street lighting with one lamp out and the other showing signs of blowing anyway a dimm yellow.

bulbs have nothing to do with driving skill but i permit you to go away and imagine all you want.

yes they maybe danger to other road user hence why i want to change them asap and want to find the best deal and the best bulb in my budget.

although the box they came dont stipulate that they are illegal, the person who sold me them said they "burn a deep blue and may be illegal, you maybe have trouble with the law" searching it would seem that anythiong other than white and yellow is a moving traffic violation under the RTA.

no warning signs on them saying they may explode and caution must be used when driving past other road user as they may explode.
some people just aint got a clue.

  • ive had bulbs that have a slight purple tint but really ice white at the same time and are road legal, but i cant find them anywhere, i used to have a set fitted to my previous car. but do you think i can remember the manufacturer, can i heck, bought them online. cost me £24.00 and came in a pack with side lights that were brighter than normal ones.

trying to jog my memory, but no its gone. lol.
