Father Christmas Quandry

why cant you just say to grandad that your bringing them to see him and for him not to mention his grandad and just actlike he would with all the rest of kidsI wondered that! I think DD’s will believe it even more as ‘father christmas’ wont even need to ask what their names are!
That doesn't stop the kids recognising grandad in a big beard.
Although if they do they'll just think they've got an extra special Grandad who works for Santa.0 -
I would tell them the 'helper outer' story too. That they have an extra special grandad who has been asked to deputise but they mustn't let on to the other children, because their grandad's haven't been asked by santa to help out.
And I'd say that we should ask grandad to have a word for maybe an extra special treat for knowing the secret and keeping it to himself.... because really by doing that he was helping santa too.0 -
My hubby also plays at being Santa and the kids in the family and friends kids don`t know its him. They are so in awe they don`t realise. Also a change in voice, deeper, and a good wig and beard also helps lol0

My mum used to dress up as Santa and no one - including us as children - ever guessed it was her!
She once went round the street to visit the neighbours children without telling the parents and I think the parents were all as excited as the children and no one believed it was even a lady until well after Christmas when they were told!
She didn't actually speak, just listened, nodded her head and smiled etc. It was magic - and even now 40+ years later if I see the neighbours over the Christmas period, they still mention it.
Your children may not guess if the disguise is good, and if they do, you can tell the story of Grandad being special because he had been chosen by Santa to help him, but say it's something that they don't spread around (that's if you don't want to tell them to keep a secret).0 -
yep, we always told ours (and we were told the same thing) - the Santas at parties etc are special adults chosen to help Santa out, as he's so busy at this time of year getting everything ready for Christmas Eve.0
