An entertainment licence is not the same as PPL/PRS - who asked you if you have a licence, and did they specify entertainment licence? You may well technically need a temporary events licence, and perhaps a one off PPL / PRS as mobile DJs tend to not bother...

The Sea cadet hall, although privately owned by a charity, is a public building, which is open to the public - in the same way that smoking would not be allowed inside it - unlike a house. Technically you would probably be ok, and I would say don't worry, but if you want to be absolutely sure, I would check with my local council to see if you need a temporary events licence as it only takes one complaint to open a really big can of worms.

oh !!!!!!, just when I thought I was sorted lol It was just someone I know who asked in passing, noone in authority ;) Theyre not knowledgeable about the whole thing so by mentioning entertainment license doesnt by any means imply they know their stuff.

It will be over with by 9pm so for this occasion im just going to leave it then seek advice afterwards for future.

    Thanks

The DJ will only have a "license" that covers his/her own music (if downloaded and then "moved" from one location to the other), not a license for the playing of music inside the venue.

This is an area where you could make money though. By the venue having the correct licenses it could then be hired out to the public.
