You may very well need two (PRS and PPL) if you hold it yourself in your commercial premises. As a one off you would however be mad to declare it and no one wil find out as it's not a regular occurence.
If you are concerened about it just hire a local disco to do it for you, it would be much cheaper and a lot better.0 -
Where is the party being held? It's the venue that needs the license, not the disco/mobile DJ.As a one off you would however be mad to declare it and no one wil find out as it's not a regular occurence.
You could pay as little as £11.54 for the PPL license. http://www.ppluk.com/Documents/Tariff%20PDFs/One-off%20event%20-%20PPLPP002.pdf

Not the point. It's like downloading pirated music and videos.
The PRS site is the other "half" of what you will need. http://www.prsformusic.com/users/businessesandliveevents/musicforbusinesses/charityandcommunity/Pages/default.aspxEstate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
The disco will be done by a proper paid dj and will be held in the premises the charity owns which is basically a building with a large hall. No bar or alcohol at all. Its also not a commercial property, just a hall where the group meet, its a sea cadet group. The problem is that its only a week away and a very last minute disco so im running out of time.0

Is it a private event or open to the public?0
-
As I said in the first post its for the members only, there will be no members of the general public just cadets and volunteer staff.0
-
I wouldn't bother with one then.0

I would like to not bother with one but my question is do I legally need one? The last thing I want is to get the unit shut down.0
-
You wont get shut down. You're not open to the public.0
-
Does that mean we dont need one then and whatever the DJ has covers us?0

If it's a private party in a private property then you're fine. It's like having a houseparty!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0
