Why? I cannot spend what I receive each month - seriously, I'm not a waster of money in any case .... everything earns its keep in my life!!

  • Don't comment much on here, as I always feel my opinions aren't that important, but couldn't resist this one.

We haven't cut anything, as luckily (touch wood, cross fingers etc etc) we are both still working.

Still got our 2 cars, 2 motorbikes, sky tv, holidays, own a property, have net asset of about £50k (so nowhere near as much as some), and live reasonably comfortable.

Have cut all journeys down to essential travel only.
Meal planning on an epic and cheap scale.
No going out anywhere socially (not hard that one, can't get a babysitter for love nor money anyway!)
No buying books, not even second hand ones now (the hardest one for me)
No winter clothes buying (for myself, always make sure the boys have enough)....my fleece jacket is now approx 5 years old and sees me through all the seasons.
No once a month cinema visits now either, stopped them half way through the summer holidays and haven't been since.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Amazing. All this obsession over a precious metal, and now you reveal that your vast exposure is around £20 a month.

Jeez, isn't it always the case. The metal obsessives give the impression they are serious players and eventually reveal themselves to hold just a couple of grands worth, at most.

Come back and talk to us when you've got some serious exposure, sonny boy.

Nothing. I suspect like many people, since I haven't been fired the recession/crisis is having no effect on me. Just as the average person doesn't have £321k of net wealth (because most of the wealth is heavily concentrated into the hands of the top 10% and the mean average is therefore very different to the median average), most people are also not feeling much pain really, as the pain and cuts are concentrated into the minority who have been sacked or had pay cut.

    This

The recession hasn't affected me at all, and even less so now that I've left the UK for good.
