RIP Davy Jones  I love the Monkees :D

I've just redeemed £5 amazon and signed up to Netflix for cashback (thanks DDFW) though I suspect I may waste some time on there now :D

Paid £250 today towards the debts :T

Have a good evening everyone :)

Hello everyone, still feeling awful :( I just feel completely drained and haven't got a bit of energy. Plus I'm a bit headachey and feel sick generally.

Anyway enough of that, p&f - your new plan sounds lovely and just getting out when it's nice will be fab! It's glorious here today and I enjoyed being in the sun at lunchtime :)

Do you like my drum roll? :p
Ok everyone i've checked with jwil and she has ok'd it for me to run a mini-challenge for us thread followers :D Details are below so if you'd like to join let me know and i'll cheer us all on throughout March
What has prompted this has been a bit of a wood for the trees thing. Basically i am sure most of us have debts we want to be rid of smiley-sport012.gif and there can be just so much to focus on it can be overwhelming smiley-sport026.gif (ok, i promise to stop with the smileys now :o) So this challenge is about us making minimum payments at least to all our debts (not managed to check this but i read somewhere that if you overpay your debts, even by £1, it is much better on your credit file - i don't do this with all mine by the way but just thought i'd pop this in and maybe someone will know) And choosing 1 debt to focus on and throw all overpayments at that :)
So we're going to be paying at least minimum payments to all debts and choosing 1 debt to pay all extra moneys to :D
Now, even 1 debt can seem overwhelming so what i do is aim to overpay by £1000 in a month - i have done this with varying degrees of success but in all honesty anything extra off debt is better than nothing so even if we don't hit £1000 then we've still reduced our debt which can only be good :T
So £1000 is alot really so i then break this down into: - 20 chunks of £50 each. Basically i try and come up with 20 ideas to get £50 together which will = £1000. The one main thing i did was pay any extra money off the debt immediately it hit my account before it had chance to disappear - obviously things come up so if you need the money for an urgent bill just use it - i'm only throwing out ideas :p
I'll jot down the ideas i can come up with now and a little explanation too and obviously if anyone :o joins me we can pool ideas :D
    1, bay of e £50
    2, bay of e £50
So this month i'm looking to make £100 from eb*y but as soon as the moneys in my account i'm going to pay it straight off the bill whether its £2.22 or the full £100. I've listed 150 new items last month so this will be a big challenge for me as i'm struggling for new things to put on - i may now put on things i expect to fetch more money or list ALOT of little things to try and get this money in ;)
3, cashback - aim to get up to £50 cashback by keeping up with what offers are available and if any are for me not being lazy and getting on with it.
    4, usual payment
    5, usual payment
just like it says we all pay the debts each month so we might as well count the usual payment in this - my payments £100 anyhow just to the 1 bill
6, storecupboard challenge - or for me buying less biscuits :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - i do a weekly shop so to save £50 means over the 4 weeks in the month cut shopping down by at least £12.50 week :D and again straight after the shopping pay it off the debt :)
7, MS if you MS see if you can get £50 worth of work in a month

8, overtime / bonus if any of you lucky people get these count them in :)

If you'd like to join me just pop a post on and i will do updates too - i've not jotted down more ideas because this is a lengthy post (sorry jwil) but i will be back with more ;)
So you get the idea :) Hope some of you will join me

Hey DDFW, I'm in on the challenge :D (Loving the smileys by the way!)

Things are tight at the moment, but I am guilty of just frittering the small bits away.

I'd love to be able to clear my first target asap, so I'm aiming for lots of stuff on ebay  and seeing what cashback I can get.

I'm also going to pledge to pay *something* of everything I bring in to my target, even if I have to keep some back for general bills/living.

Anyone else going to join us? :D

Please don't let me be the only one DDFW cracks her whip at, I'm scared   :rotfl: :rotfl:

If I follow correctly... pay off one debt in March by raising extra funds/doing overtime/etc?
    If so, I'm in.
I've already cleared one of them this morning :D
But I'd really like to tackle the Mastercard next, so I aim to get an extra £150 cleared off the balance by the end of this month minimum. If I get the job that I'm hoping for, then I aim for £250 instead. :)

Good to have you on board too minii :D And huge congratulations on clearing a debt in full :T:T:T

I had very little sleep last night and have been sat with a calculator and bank account for most of the morning - then going away and coming back to it in an attempt not to make a mistake. Now thats out of the way i can focus on here a bit - but i have to go out for a few hours :o So sorry if this is a bit fuzzy.

Minii - alot of that is right but i don't want it to be too big a pressure for everyone to clear 1 full debt although if you can that is the ultimate aim and is fantastic :j:j:j- the £2577 in my sig is an overwhelming amount - almost 3times my salary! So i'm commiting to paying that down by £1000 this month. Broken down into manageable 20 x £50 amounts. So i already pay £100 to it as a minimum payment each month so thats 2 of the £50 sorted out straight away. This is just an example to show we're all off the mark already as we'll all be paying the minimum payments anyway :D

Its a challenge to also encourage us to share ideas on how we make / save / stretch our money too :D

So i'll pop you down for £150 target :D and i really have to go out now but what i'll do when i'm back is jot down what i have done today towards making this happen.

I have paid target 1 off today - except for the rotten interest that i'm waiting to hear back on then i'll close the account. As usual i don't feel great about clearing it - but maybe because its not fully paid off as yet? Or maybe because i cleared the balance once before but needed to use it for the new boiler :o
