Help me pick a dress!

Dress #2I prefer dress 2, but I would get the lace top from dress one and get a dress maker to try and merge those 2 bits... I'm not a great fan of the straps on dress 1 either, I would want it to mirror the front (ish).:T0

I hate the straps on Dress 1 as well grr! They just don't 'go'. It is an amazing dress apart from that though, so beautiful and vintage looking.
Dress 2 is sooo pretty, very feminine, would not be paranoid about the size of my bum
trying_2_b_good - I have seen it in a 2nd hand bridal shop near me, so can defo get it if I want it.
Miss Bolan - I am smaller with a 'sort of' in-proportion chest but not flat chested by any means! I know that Dress 1 is more suited to a taller person but I do love it (apart from the straps
).
Thanks to all for the votes so far, and especially the comments - they are really helpful!

Dress #2If you hate the straps don't go for it! Or see if a dress maker can change it. I wouldnt buy any dress that a bit of it I hated.:T0

Dress #2Not a big fan of the first one, looks ok with the jacket on but the doiley type material i dont like. Im a bloke with very little taste though!
Suppose it depends on you though, your style, shape, age, dress sense.
For example i look daft in a tux but a long tailed jacket and look rather fetching if i dont say so myself.
All the best for your wedding day, hope you feel beautiful and have a fantastic day.
Really not sure why im commenting, my opinion should really count for absolutely nothing.0 -
All opinions count spadoosh!
And it is useful to get a guy's view.
My style is very vintage, whimsical and feminine - both dresses are very 'me' even though they are different iykwim!

If you're not too keen on spaghetti straps then maybe, as nickki44 suggested, get a dressmaker to make a dress like the second, but with bits from the first which you like, such as the neckline. I personally wouldn't buy a wedding dress unless I loved every bit of it, and trying to hide bits of it with a veil (which you're unlikely to wear for the whole day anyway) doesn't seem quite right to me.
Support your local dressmaker! :T

I know, they seem to belong to different dresses! I could just get the DM to alter the back of Dress 1 perhaps.

You could use the lace-overlay bateau neckline, but instead of it going into spaghetti straps, continue the lace over the shoulders as a floaty cap-sleeve type thing. Does that make sense??
I probably haven't explained it too well...

Dress #1I think both dresses are really beautiful but maybe are suited to slightly different body shapes.
Dress 1 I think is better if you are fairly straight up and down and dress 2 maybe suits a more curvy shape?
I think it should be which one suits you best! Have you not been able to try on either?
When dress shopping with my DD it was amazing that ones I thought I'd love were NOT the ones I really liked in reality.
The one she has gone for is without doubt not the most 'showy' but certainly looks way better and prettier on her than just looking at it on a hangar or in a picture. Plus the dressmaker that runs the Bridal Boutique is amazing and has knocked up a jacket to match by ordering more fabric at the time the dress was ordered and has just 'made' a jacket in a design my DD is happy with.:T
So I think you need to try on each, or something as near to the shape of each and then decide. YOU are the one that needs to feel totally happy in it.:j

Yes, I would love that!! :T Just not sure whether there would be enough extra lace in the train/hem of the dress to do it.flossy_splodge wrote: »I think both dresses are really beautiful but maybe are suited to slightly different body shapes.

I tried on Dress 1 in a 2nd hand shop and loved it - need to (and am determined to) lose a few lbs to look good in it though
I've also tried on a couple of styles that are similar to Dress 2 - they are super flattering and lovely.
