With thanks to the long-suffering July 2012 brides who have been through umpteen dresses with me...!
I am down to TWO dresses:
Dress #1 - Pronovias Daven:
http://www.peoniesandpolaroids.com/2...velations.html
http://www.tolain.com/jpn/gowns/pron...as08DAVEN.html
Dress #2 - from a blog (would have to get it made):
http://greenweddingshoes.com/real-we...kyard-wedding/
I have the option of getting the 2nd one tweaked a little if I want, perhaps a bateau neckline instead of the little dip at the front - and either a belt or a sash. The bateau neck would be something like this:

So... what do you all think??

Dress #2I have voted on which one I would wear and my personal taste but they may not reflect yours. Have you tried on dresses in a similar style to Dress number 2? Because it a different silhouette and I'd hate for you to go and get it made then hate that style on!
Reasons against Dress Number 1 for me: I don't like the back - don't like the two thin straps. And I don't like the top of the front. I love the skirt on this one though - but the top half of it ruin it for me I think. (Compared to Dress Number 2).0 -

I have tried a dress in a very similar style to #2
The skirt isn't quite as full either - it 'falls' in folds iykwim, just like Catie's in the blog
I don't really like the thin straps either, but I figured that a good veil will disguide them! And I love the neckline at the front - all my fave dresses have been bateau necklines
Personally i would prefer the Dress Number1,i don't like the Number2 for the bateau neckline, the Number 1 can show your stature ,and in July it would be more cool.
Thanks - good point. :A Although I wouldn't have tons of layers in the skirt of #2 - would be way too warm!!7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs

Dress #1i voted for dress one - but i DO really like the bodice of dress 2
if you're having one made, how about trying to incorporate the bits you like of each dress?
A good dressmaker will be able to tell you if it is feasible and if it will look good or not

Dress #1Love love love number 1. If only I were less short and round... But honestly I think it's beautiful and elegant and I love the way the top is cut, it's unusual and classy all at once

Number two is okay, but the skirt is very plain while the top is not (and could be hot for a summer wedding), it just doesn't seem to flow as nicely as the first IYSWIM.LittleMissInDebt0 -
Dress #1I love love dress one! I wish I hadn't bought my dress...
I love it's timeless and understated elegance.0 -
Dress #2I love the second one. Not too keen on the thin straps on the first one, and the front and back of the bodice don't seem to 'go' together, somehow! That's just my opinion though!
If you're not too keen on spaghetti straps then maybe, as nickki44 suggested, get a dressmaker to make a dress like the second, but with bits from the first which you like, such as the neckline. I personally wouldn't buy a wedding dress unless I loved every bit of it, and trying to hide bits of it with a veil (which you're unlikely to wear for the whole day anyway) doesn't seem quite right to me.

Dress #1Im a vote for the first one too, but thats my personal choice, and I think it really depends on your size and shape. For example in my opinion the first one might be better for someone taller and with a snaller chest, and the second one for someone smaller with a larger chest. They are both lovely, but its hard to say which is right for you :-) and I might be totally wrong about size and shape and style by thr way, I am ready to be shot down by those fashionistas who know more than me! x
Trying to be good and watch the pennies, but guilty of falling off the wagon every so often!

Dress #2Overall I prefer number 2, but I think its just personal taste, I just really like the shape. I do think though the top part on dress one looks quite thick and heavy, so I think you should get a 'perfect for you' dress made. I would put together a list of what you like about dress one, what you like about dress 2 and anything else youve really liked on the millions (:rotfl:)of dresses youve tried on and take this all to the dress maker and see if she can come up with some perfect.0

Dress #1Dress 1 is absolutely gorgeous! And it seems more vintage than dress 2.0
