Bending copper pipe

I'm fitting a new bath and had to cut the cold pipe out during renovations. It's about 10cm short of where I need it to be to connect to the flex pipe for the tap

I'd like to fit a new length incorporating a 90 degree turn; plenty of space and the hot pipe has a nice gentle curve.

My local DIY shop won't bend pipe like this, will anyone? Or am I forced to use a shoulder bend or spending £50 on a pipe bender?

You should be able to buy a Bending Spring for a few pounds.

Buy a longer flex hose and then it is a better job with fewer fittings

B&Q used to sell a corrugated piece of 15mm copper pipe about 300mm long and you could bend this with your hands, and it's smooth on the ends to take a fitting. Very useful for quick awkward jobs

A spring will be no good for 90 degree bends

use fittings or flexi conectors

i use speedfit to fit baths nothing like it has ever been invented
ask any one of my plumbing students.....

I ended up using elbows after trying bending springs. The spring was a pain to get in and out and the pipe still kinked anyway. Probably a knack to it and I can't imagine they'd sell if they didn't work somehow, but in hindsight I'd have just forked out for a pipe bender in the first place!

Pipe benders don't cost £50, you can get a silverline one for £23 + delivery @transtools. Silverline tools are not always great quality (a bit of an understatement with regard to their saws) but their pipe bender works okay.

If I was plumbing in a new bath, I would not spend money on a pipe bender or a spring. Especially if it was just for a single use job. I would find some other way to make the connection using push fit elbows or what ever fitting did the job.
