Spar dont take Scottish Notes!!!!!!

Given how easy it was today for someone to pass a forged english £5.00 note to the lad on the till behind me (many fivers are so crumpled they're difficult to check) I can't say I blame Spar for their decision. It's bad enough trying to spot fakes in currency you see every day, never mind how many other sets of sterling notes there are; 2 scottish and 4 Northern Ireland if I recall? I'll accept them when I've done all the 'feeling, checking against the light, metal strips, pens' palaver but will anyone accept them in cashback?? Oh aye, course they will :rolleyes:

I think the main reason they are refused at present is because there are a large number of forged Scottish bank notes in circulation. There have been warnings issued by Police to be on the look out for them. Many shops, not just Spar are refusing to take any Scottish notes.

Hi, folks,

My favourite Scottish notes are the big red £100 notes, they are beautiful, and when I get any I wont spend them, because once you split them they just seem to go. Instead I put them in a drawer and hope that they will breed, I've got seven just now and keep checking, but no ' produce ' yet.
