"You've got a black and decker drill there."
This leads to the question , which B&D drill is the same as a Dewalt except for the colour and badge? Same for routers (my Dewalt is the same as my old Elu) - B&D don't market anything which could be said to be the same. Ditto grinders , angle drills , circular saws etc.
Suppose that the ultimate point is are Dewalt up to the job and given the hard life that my Dewalt tools get the answer is yes.
    Forgotten but not gone.

"1993 – The Company’s new product and service commitment to the consumer channel of distribution earned it the Vendor of the Year awards from Wal-Mart, Builders Square, L.G. Cook, BMA, Channel Home Centers, and several other U.S.A. key accounts. Also launched the selected Elu line of professional power tools for Europe"

Elu is another brand of Black and Decker, which is why the routers are the same, they're both badged Black and Deckers.

You've got two black and decker routers there.
Not doubting they're good though, but are they that better than the same one in red and black, at up to a fifth of the price?

Does the Parkside one have hammer-action?

    Different torque settings?

Is the speed easy to control with the grip trigger?

Is this the one you mean?

    http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_28140.htm

It seems to be only a cordless drill/driver. No hammer function.

  • I have a number of Parkside tools from Lidl and always have found them to be of a good standard and very good value! However. . . my cordless drill which I bought approx 16 months back developed a problem and the charger basically packed up. Thought it was a fuse, but sadly not so simple! Never mind I thought, its guaranteed for 3 years? Well sort of - having tried to get hold of the correct people to contact (which in itself is a task) I finally spoke with a German lady who told me that the charger and the battery are covered for only 6 months??? Having studied the booklet that came with the drill I am having some difficulty in working out what actually is covered for 3 years. Net result is that I am left feeling that sadly the guarantee is almost worthless and I am despite my initial enthusiasm for Parkside as brand Im not sure I will buy anything further from them. Anyone else had a similar experience??
