The customer service is dreadful. The billing unfathomable.

I would never deal with this company again, and could not recommend them to anyone.

    Hi,
I thought I'd report on my experience of switching to Primus via the homephone choices site.
Many years ago I switched my landline from TalkTalk to Toucan (remember them?); they became part of Pipex and then I came full circle back to TalkTalk when they took over. With that change I lost my cheap line rental only package so I decided to look elsewhere since I almost never use the phone and just wanted the cheapest line rental. If it wasn't a requirement for ADSL (which I get from Plusnet) I'd probably get rid of the landline.

Anyway, TalkTalk sent numerous letters and emails confirming the request to leave them but I didn't hear from Primus. I don't know when the switch-over occurred exactly but the last DD went to Pipex/TalkTalk on 8th December and since then I've still not heard anything from Primus. There's a new DD showing in my online banking for Newcall Telecom but it hasn't taken any money yet.
The phone line is working now and the broadband service wasn't interrupted at any point. I'll report back if/when Primus decide to start taking their money!

I'm in exactly the same situation as you. I've been on hold to their customer service for about 37mins now. Fortunately I have a speaker phone and CS are an 0800 number.

    Complete shower of !!!!.

  • I signed up to Primus 'Saver' Broadband, phone line and line rental all for just over £15 in total. I have been with them for 3 months and have regretted it ever since. The day the broadband swapped over I still didn't have my router. So, as I was with SKY before, I had to wait for the new router as my SKY one was locked to them only.

When it finally turned up I noticed a significant difference in Broadband speeds. With SKY, I would get about 4-8meg which was fine but the new Primus Saver Router was only giving me 1 or 2meg. I immediately sent an email to Primus' inbox to which I got no reply. I sent another about 2weeks later... No reply. I sent one yesterday... No reply. So today I had enough free time to spend 2 1/2 hours waiting for an operator who told me there were high volumes of emails received recently.

They also logged a fault on my account after trying to fob me off with "maybe you need to change the ADSL Filter" Done, "We will have to get you to do speed checks over the next couple of months" Done that's why I am calling, "well I will have to log a fault on your line and someone will ring you later once we have done some checks.

It's now 7.10pm and I am still awaiting the call... I will be calling back tomorrow and canceling and arguing the cancellation charge...

NEVER GO NEAR PRIMUS, SOMETHING IS WRONG THERE

Seems like an unnecessary waste of time to me. I'm sure they'll start taking the money without me needing to tell them.

Interesting. For the past couple of days Primus's website seems to have disappeared. Went to New Call Telecom's website, and the link to Primus Saver doesn't work. So I can't view my account. Tried to ring Primus about it. Had the phone off the hook for over 2 hours, but music-while-you wait still playing all that time afterwards. So if they don't answer your emails, ignore your letters, and customer service don't answer their phone, how does one communicate with this company? Ah, but they are telling me my call is very important to them. Ooh! They really care, don't they....not :T
  • STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! i left this company oct 2011,i recieved phone&broadband, modem short circuited, reported this, fobbed off repeatedly,no internet access for a MONTH!,i left this company citing poor customer service,i am being driven to distraction by the bills i am still recieving on a regular basis, despite repeated phone calls to customer service(takes approx 35mins for customer service to answer)bills continue although call centre handlers agree i owe nothing! my account is closed! i fear for my credit rating, last week after yet another 2 bills,i advised i would not be phoning them again, iam contacting watchdog,

What time was it when you rang them?
PS. I've managed to log into my account, so it's working at the moment.

That was around 17:30 on the 7th. Their website was down then. I tried ringing customer service back yesterday morning and actually got through after about 15 minutes. That was pretty fast for Primus. They knew about the website and anyway it was back working by then. I learned something rather interesting. If you are on the old £7.99 Home Saver rate (as I am), just before the contract ends if you ring Primus and roll it over for another year you stay on the same (old) rate. The only thing that changes are the call rate charges. Note the big rate increases for 0845 numbers in the past month.

Well I've finally received notification that they're going to take some money from me - £0.17 for the one call I made since switching in December. Still no sign of being charged line rental.
