Hi there,
Just in preference what account would you money savers advise me to use as a second account Lloyds or Barclays?
They both have goods and bad points like most banks but can anyone advise me on what bank they would recommend?
Many thanks

Why Lloyds or Barclays tho ?
whats wrong with RBS/HSBC/HALIFAX/FD etc ?
But TSB are good tho (well they have been with me anyway) - but all banks have up's n downs• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -
Why do you need a second account? Most banks will require that you pay your salary or a lump sum in each month to avoid th account becoming "chargable".
I've just moved to First Direct and the service has been amazingly good.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
Without a single shadow of a doubt Lloyds TSB beats Barclays.0

Neither, from an ethical perspective, but it then depends on what kind of account you want, and what is important to you about your bank...0

I have current accounts with First Direct, Nationwide, Barclays, Halifax and co-op, none of them charge me. I put funds each month into the last two for incentives, not because they would charge me otherwise. Why do you need a second account? I'd go with Lloyds, either TSB (Vantage accounts) or Halifax (Reward account).0 -
I've tried quite a few banks and I wouldn't personally bank with either of these two. HSBC or FD would be my opinion. Co-op is quite ok but I dislike their online banking0

As a Barclays customer.... definately Lloyds.

Mainly because with Barclays you will have to use their convoluted and unmemorable logon process along with their god awful "pinsentry" card reader which they expect you to carry with you everywhere if you want to use their internet banking.
The wife uses Lloyds and it seems pretty good from my limited experiences of it. Personally my main bank is Halifax and I consider their online facilities by far the best of all I have tried.• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.0 -

I really don't understand why someone would need 6 current accounts.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -

Someone clearly can't count
1 First Direct [Salary & CC]
2 Nationwide [Debit card transactions]
3 Barclays [Unused now, but I keep it anyway, they might offer something I want in the future, plus its a contactless card if the technology ever gets supported by more than 2 shops in my area],
4 Halifax [Bill payments and free fivers]
5 co-op [free £200]0
