If you've a British passport, you don't need to a visa to enter any of the EU countries.0

You can enter the UK using a national ID card from any EEA country. However, I assume from your question that you have a Schengen visa and are not a citizen of an EEA country. To check whether you need a visa, see the UK Border Agency web site. Except when flying, immigration controls are often carried out by the UK Border Agency in France. Unless you're using fraudulent documents or are wanted by the UK authorities, you will not be arrested; you will simply be denied boarding. If you're flying, then the airline will deny boarding if you don't have the correct travel documents.0

If you are going abroad apply for one of these (E111) http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_40181630

What you say is correct, but the OP asked about going to France from the UK.0 -
Sorry I misread it. In that case, the OP should read the guidance on the French foreign ministry web site in English. What you say is correct, but the OP asked about going to France from the UK.0 -

Then no, you don't need a visa.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

From what I know, if you are British and have a UK passport you do not need a visa to visit France. I visited France last year with just my passport!
