It's just that post#4 seems to suggest that the money would be put to other uses.

No, you shouldn't. You are only enabling their lifestyle. They wouldn't beg if no-one gave them money. The money would be better spent on a charity such as Shelter, who will try to help people off the streets.

a charity such as Shelter cant cope with all the beggars/homeless that is in london. so you saying that i should walk past these unfortunate people and turn a blind eye. again wot a nice bloke you are to your few human beings.

You don't have to ignore them, you can help them by giving money to Shelter or similar. Or you can encourage them to keep begging and sleeping on the streets by giving them money, your choice.

Try offering to buy them food instead of giving them money - they will usually refuse in my experience, as they want the money for drugs.

Yet your whole analogy above suggests that you have not in fact grasped the whole OP.

money off and discount vouchers are not backed by bylaws and such like so really it makes no difference. Rail tickets are however and this sort of behaviour could lead to a criminal record for both parties involved.

The vast majority of beggars are alcoholic drug addicts in my experience. Vagrants obviously have to eat and the one or two you've 'helped' have obviously had a severe case of the munchies! You'll find that giving them money at best, usually goes on a can of Special Brew!

your attitude to label beggars as alcoholic drug addict is so wrong and unjustified. its not their fault that they end up on the streets all sorts of things can go wrong for them and a lot of the time drugs has nothing to do with it.

If you can't give any useful advice then maybe you should consider not adding adding comments at all
