Replacing boiler. Valliant or any other suggestions?

Hi,
I'm replacing my Vokera boiler and would appreciate some expert advice on my options. I have a 3 bedroom semi-detached house and having searched this forum, have noticed that Valliant seems to get good reviews.
Can someone recommend a boiler (Which rates the Valliant eco Tec plus 428 as No. 3) or would this be too small for my house?
I have a gas engineer waiting to do the work but wondered if it would be more cost effective for me to buy the boiler direct. If so, does anyone have any experience on buying on-line and from where?
Many thanks.

a 28kw boiler is ok for your house.
its normally better for the engineer to supply and install. ask him to quote you the boiler price seperate so you can compare.
(should be under 900 quid inc).Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks for the reply. I thought 28kw would be too small for 7 rooms. Should save me some money then0

You might be pleasantly surprised at the way technology has improved in this field.0

Hi.
You might be pleasantly suprised to find you need a lower Kw output boiler. 28Kw for a 3 bed semi seems a lot.
I take it your installer calculated it out to that figure?

A standard 3 bed semi shouldn't need more than an 18kw boiler at worse.
More like a 15Kw will do. The Ecotec Plus 415 or 418 should do, but as these boilers are Vaillant's worst offering, I would recommend the Worcester 15Ri or 18Ri instead.
You must get an accurate answer to what your property actually needs though. A 428 on a small system will be nothing but constant trouble.0 -
I'm running the Valliant 28 Pro & I have 3 beds,2 receptions, hall, bathroom, kitchen & downstairs loo. Also, Valliant are doing 5 yr warranty on some boilers if fitted before certain date in Dec - see their website...0
