that seems so simple, really does.. she wouldnt speak to me on the phone, its only when i turn up on the doorstep and hand over the stuff, she has to talk to me, and then i am never invited in, (i would never try to enter without being asked in).
mum calls often and it would be oh dont bother about me dear, and then tell everyone that mum hadn't bothered getting her anything.
when i was 1 my mum was told by her i was evil and sly????? at one what on earth had i done for her to say that...0 -

I got a friend one last year that trained a teacher, very worthwhile and a good talking point at Christmas when most people are too busy obsessing over sprouts!0

In all honesty I don't think it matters much what you get. The primary reason for doing so is for the sake of your mum/grandad, yes?
If she is of a mind to, she will pick holes in whatever it is but that doesn't really matter because it is the act of giving something which is important to mum/grandad0 -

No idea what to get her but may I suggest you deliver the gifts when other family members are there so that they can see she has not been forgotten. One less thing for her to snipe at.

OP, I'd just put the tenner in a card and pop it through the ruddy door!
Tell your mum that you aren't prepared to go round there anymore on her behalf as you don't even get invited in, and that whatever you give her gets whizzed.
Suggest that in future she send a card with the cash from France to save you the upset and time taken to post on a forum to vent your anger.
You could have been sat down reading or watching TV eating a box of chocolates instead of tapping away on this thread. :rotfl:Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.0
