As we all know, you get cheap when you buy cheap, so imagine what you get for free.
The free checks will only expose the most blatant of failures, whereas you can get a good quality service including all necessary checks done for about £50 - £80 per year.
Not only is this much safer, it is also likely to nip small defects in the bud before they become big repair bills.0 -
Thanks for the link, but this is a (sales) check to advise on ways to improve efficiency - pipe/attic insulation; switch to modern condensing boiler etc.
It does not include a GasSafe safety inspection which is what I was thinking of.
Thanks anyway.0 -
There is no such thing as a free 'Gas Safe' safety check.
Sorrymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I've had the renewal for my boiler insurance this morning it's £13.74 per mth, but they've included a further quote of £19.50 per mth if i want cover that includes an annual service. So that means in effect i'm paying an extra £5.76x12 (£69.12) for a service.
That's with Domestic & GeneralLiverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Sorry
I beg to differ, I've just had one, though admittedly that was because I have had my heating installed in the last 6 months.
Look on the gas safe website and it's on there. It is a free safety check

So..free check...engineer looks at boiler and hears/discerns that it hasnt been serviced for years.
Response..yes it needs servicing, that'll be £80 please Sir
What,you dont want it doing?
OK,heres a warning notice..as it is at least AT Risk for not being serviced for yonks....
Why not treat him? have it serviced by a local indie, pay and ensure that he is safe and warm.
His winter fuel payment will be wasted on an inefficient dirty boiler.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
