Can I also suggest an extra page for your site? How about Customer Comments or Testimonials. By the looks of it, plenty of people here have had some of your cards and would be able to write fabulous stuff about the quality etc. Just an idea.

That is an EXCELLENT idea, Mupeteer. :T

    No you are not. PaP - it is not difficult to 'cost' your cards;

    1. Cost of raw material
    2. Cost of Labour (allow minimum of £15.00 per hour)
    3. Cost of overheads - all the other things like electric, glue, cost of one-off things such as 'logo' stamps etc.

Allow for 'stock' which is 'dead money'.

Then look to see what the others are charging.

so looking at this for 4 listed things, labour i have worked out max i could make is 6 cards per hour making £2.50 per card ~

    pink flower ~ 1. £0.93 ~2. £2.50 ~ 3. ? total = £3.43
    pink xmas trees ~ 1. £0.52 ~ 2. £2.50 ~ 3. ? ~ total = £3.02
    modern tree pack ~ 1. £2.20 ~ 2. £2.50 ~ 3. ? ~ total = £4.70
    flower frame ~ 1. £1.35 ~ 2. £2.50 ~ 3. ? ~ total = £3.95

so is the total what i should be chargeing? because if it is i dont think people will buy them because i certainly wont buy a frame covered in paper with a few flowers stuck on for £4 or am i missing something?

i have looked at a number of sites and yes they are all charging much more than me however i wouldnt dream of charging prices like this website seems to charge
  • Wow, how do they justify those prices?

Stick to what you think is reasonable but I do think you need to charge more than you are at the moment.

I know how difficult it is because I used to make and sell cards myself. Just don't sell yourself short. Remember that it's not just a few things stuck on - not everyone has the creativity or the ability to make items like yours.

PaP - you need to take an objective view. Obviously you want to make sure that your customers get 'value for money' so they will keep coming back. At the same time, you must make sure that you can afford to sell your cards at a reasonable profit, otherwise you will be 'on a hiding to hell'.
Certainly, from what I've seen, your cards should sit, very comfortably, within the £2.25 to £4.50 price ranges. They are, after all, hand-made and, therefore, individually unique.
The prices charged on the 'S-M' site are, in my opinion, a 'rip-off' - the quality of the cards does not compare with yours - but they are obviously selling.

Hi Pap, I love the new cards you've added to your site, and I will definitely be a repeat customer!

Just one thing, on your homepage it mentions a DIY section and I couldn't find it.....I could just be being dense though! :o

I reckon those prices are better. No point in underselling your obvious talent.

Now hopefully some of the peeps from here will leave comments about how fabulous you are.:rotfl:

I wish you all the luck in the world with this pap.

  • Hi Pap.... how u feeling today? Better I hope!?!

Like the look of the new prices on the site.....Ur little empire is starting to come together:D and u can always change the prices again if u need too.

Popped to the cheap book shop today, no A-Z for Birmingham..... so gotta find one somewhere else.... a bit of online shopping me thinks!
I doubled checked with the lady who looks after the hols for me and there's definately no one off that weekend, so I am there! I also pointed out to OH that he's in charge of babysitting that weekend, and he wasn't bothered in the slightest!
We'll have to decide where it is we're gonna stay (if u still wanna share?) and see what we deal we can get.
I'm so excited, I wanted to tell everyone at work today..... but I don't think they'll understand :o
    How is everything with u?

PS ~ love the new addition to ur sig!
