Home Hub 2 and an orange ball

Hi, I'm looking for some help. I moved house and had to get a new phone line installed. I get my internet through BT and took my Hub with me. Since getting connected in my new place, my signal strength icon in the bottom right corner of the screen is now grey with an orange ball thing sitting in front of it, instead of the 5 white bars I used to get. I tried getting help with this from a Live Chat to a technician on the BT website. He told me there was an issue with my computer, not my hub or my line.
I tried changing the channel on the Hub, but it was still there. Anybody got any ideas? :(

It could be that there is some interference near the location of the hub.

Do you have a cordless phone base station next to it?

Is there any other electrical equipment nearby?

Move the router slightly and adjust the angle.

Can you see your router SSID (name) in the list of available wireless connections on your computer?

You can find the SSID printed on the back of the Hub or if you login to the web configuration.

  • Hi, I tried all that. I put it into the hall where it is away from any electrical appliances. I had to plug the hub into an extension cable to power it up. I've even tried plugging into the hub with an ethernet cable, but the orange ball is still there. I've tried changing the channel on the hub, but still the orange ball. This only happened since my new line was installed, it didn't do it in my old house. Help!

Did you have the ADSL service transferred too? Sometimes, it can take longer for the ADSL service to provision however, the telephone may work straight away.

Is it the black or white Home Hub?

Is the DSL/Broadband light steady or flashing? What colour is the light?

Have you tried logging into the Home Hub configuration settings to check the status of the router?

If you have moved, chances are you may also have a new ADSL login. Check with BT. If this is the case, you will have to change this in the router.

Were you not offered a 3.0 upon the home move or did you move before it's release?
