How long does fresh garlic keep for?

Options
Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked already but I can't find the post. I know you don't keep it in the fridge, so I've got it in a cupboard, but don't know how soon I need to use it up!
Thanks!

Um, I have had a garlic bulb in my fridge for six weeks and the clove I used today was as fresh as the one used when I first bought it.

I buy a net of garlic bulbs and use them when I use them, they are like onions and last for ages.

We bought a huge bag of garlic bulbs last June in Spain at friend's apartment. Ketp them in the fridge and just finished before Christmas. I would imagine they might loose a bit of flavour but not noticeable to be honest!

I've got some in the kitchen that the neighbours brought me back from France (plat type thing) and they went there in the summer... well... my garlic that I used a couple of nights ago was as perfect as any I've used so far so 4 months and counting ;)

I keep the garlic bulbs in the fruit bowl. It keeps apples from rotting too soon.

    Try it. ;)

I just love Italian food, it would be really great if "authentic" Italians could direct us to GOOD Italian restaurants. ( Chains or otherwise!!) i live in south London and would really appreciate a pointer to "authentic" Italian eaterties!

Forgot to add that my garlic bulbs seem to "go off" really quickly!!
