Forgot to add that my garlic bulbs seem to "go off" really quickly!!
I am 100% Italian from Piedmont (same as Carluccio is from). I have, during a recent clearout, found a recipe book I got in Italy years ago, and I plan on translating some and posting them here.
Carluccio's restaurants are fairly authentic, as is Strada, a very reasonably priced chain.
If you want a real treat and are prepared to spend quite a bit, I suggest The Italian Kitchen in New Oxford Street. YUMMY.
However nothing beats the independent, family run restaurant.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
We buy garlic plaits. Once we've taken a bulb of the plait and broken into it, we keep the remainder in a small garlic jar (ie jar with a few holes in to allow air to circulate) in the fridge. This keeps it really fresh.0

I like that idea, where do you buy the plaits from?
I have been known to put garlic bulbs in my "overflow" fruitbowl in the kitchen (when fruit is really cheap at Lidl) and have noticed that it seems to last longer, thought it was just me!Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
I have a garlic keeper from Lakeland, I have had bulbs in there for months, I love garlic and use loads, I have never had any problems with it going off.0

I harvested mine in August and I'm still using it, and will do until next August.0

Garlic is part of the onion family and as such keeps as well - if there are green shoots you could plant in a bit of compost and leave on the windowsill to root and then you have your own garlic plantBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
