I Want a Phone Card for My Mobile To Call Italy.

I know you can get pre-payment phone cards with cheap international calls for landlines.......but does anyone know if its possible to get them to dial from a mobile phone?

Any suggestions appreciated.

There are some good phone cards, but some have all kinds of charges that you don't really figure out at the beginning, like connection charges, or a few pence a day even if you don't use them, so it's worth looking at a couple of other ideas too

Which network are you on, and prepay or contract? And are you trying to reach landlines or mobiles?

If contract, there are some callthrough numbers that can be used to reach some destinations from your inclusive minutes, with no phone card or account needed, like 0844 or 0870 numbers on O2, or 07744 on Orange and T-mobile. Here is Martin's article with more details

If pay as you go, there are cheap options on some networks, like O2 International option, Mobile World, or Orange Call Abroad, from 5 or 7 pence a minute, or a T-mobile bundle option of 4p/minute to USA

And even if those ideas don't apply, you might get a Call18185 or similar account that you could use via a London number and would save you having to buy physically buy new cards or vouchers. The MSE Callchecker will give an idea of the call rates you can hope for with accounts like that

If there is any way you can access a landline both for calling from and to Italy it will currently only cost you half a pence per minute. I am currently using Dialwise (info in Martins article) and the sound quality is spot on. Look at his article too for if you HAVE to use a mobile but any way to go landline to landline is just SO cheap. Good luck.:T

Thanks for all your replys. I have 2 pay as you go phones........T Mobile and Virgin. Reading one the articles you gave me the links to, ive found Top Up Discount. Theres no contract, you pay 5 pounds and they give you 5 pounds credit back. I will then be able to phone a landline in Italy via my mobile for 1p a minute.

Mobile World from the carphonewarehouse is meant to be quite good. 7p a minute from UK mobile to Italy (landline).
