Sorry DS was sick again so been away cleaning up.
I don't take offense at what has been said by anyone but I don't have a relationship with his parents. I only ever saw them a couple of times a year and after a 5 hour 'conversation' with his mother when she told me I should basically be grateful to have her son, I don't want one either (I should accept that I pay for everything for the kids including my step-child, as well as buy all the food and pay half the bills as he paid to do up HIS house before I moved in). I haven't heard a word from his parents bar that phonecall. They know the reasons why we split, they know what my ex gets up to in his spare time (and it isn't tiddlywinks) but they want nothing to do with me yet are happy to fawn over his 1st ex-wife. I was never wanted and I really don't care.
DS is being sick however so I'm not sending him out as I know from last time the grandparents were over, DS spent the time cowering in the corner and wouldn't go near them. If he's not well and stuck in a house with people he doesn't want to be with that would break my heart. They're not innocent in our break up but not going into detail on here. If they'd been grown-up about this, tried to maintain some channel of communication with me like they did their 1st DIL then I'd have no problem asking them around here but given the circumstances, you'll forgive me for not wanting to go out of my way.
Raven, your idea is a good one but in reality not possible.
Sunshinestar, your heart is in the right place but if you knew all the detail, you wouldn't be so kind. Oh and thankfully the boys aren't old enough to know what's going on, the eldest being 2, the youngest isn't even 1.
I'm also out well over £1000 on legal fees as the ex refuses to accept a judge telling him no. The contact order has dragged on for 3 months now and that money could have put food on the table or paid the bills and what do I have to show for it? More court dates to fill up the rest of the month. This is why I enjoy and need MSE so much as if it weren't for the glitches, bargains, DTDs and banter, I'd be skint and be down in the dumps. Because of this wonderful forum I can afford nappies & wipes thanks to glitches, I can afford food because of whoopsies, I have some cracking toys because of the 90% sale and I have stuff I'd never be able to afford because of DTD.
I hear what your saying . . . . and wont begin to put myself in your situation.
All I will add is, while its realistic - take the higher ground if possible - its the only way to retain your sanity in the long run but only if you believe it will suit the kids after all is said and done.I'd like to teach the World to sing in perfect Harmony:j
