I'm not sure where to start with this or where to post but need some urgent advice:

Myself and my partner have been struggling with high bills at present and have been trying to cut our bills as much as possible. This has resulted in us getting our meat from the local butcher and we have seen a great reduction in price.
We have been buying from the butcher for about 6 months now and been trying different meats and been saying to the butchers to let us know of any other meats and have got quite friendly with the staff.

I was quite shocked to learn the other day the chap who normally serves us arrived at the house Monday morning with a big black bag. We were shocked to see him as we discussed where we lived but he'd never been round to the house. He said it's a new type of meat alot of people are liking at the moment but couldn't sell it to us in the shop. He said it was free as we'd been good customers.

To cut a long story short we ended up with cutlets of Swan which we ended up eating on Monday and Tuesday night. It was really good quality meat so mentioned this to a good friend of ours who said that eating this meat is illegal and should never mention this to anyone.

Has anyone else tried Swan? Is this illegal?

Yeah I guess it'd be illegal unless of course it had been accidentally killed such as being hit by a car. I guess in those circumstances it would be ok.

Nasty creatures anyway regardless of how pretty they might look.

Sorry I did say I cut a long story short.

He brought around the whole Swan and did explain to us it was a Swan he caught the day before at the local pond.

I am so worried since my friend told me that I still have the carcass in the house and haven't chucked it out yet. What should I do?!

Saw a program on TV about this and they took DNA from the bones from a bin and confirmed it was swan! They prosecuted! Lucky they didn't follow Tim's advice below! ;)
[FONT=Geneva,Arial,sans-serif]One of the reasons that swans are not eaten is probably to do with the fact that swans are soverign property and therefore may well fall under the guise of treason or another archaeic law still punishable by death.
