Help please, the Post Office website is down, I need to know how much a 20g Christmas card costs to send to USA, & Australia & how much 1st & 2nd class stamps are worth so I make them up with odd 1p's etc so I can put stamps on my cards & ask SKS to post them.

I think it will be next Christmas before I can do it myself  hoping to be able to drive to docs by Friday so I can stop moaning but ankle is still the size of a tennis ball :(

i have always believed it is illegal to kill or eat any type of swan
i think your local butcher would have known this and this is why he passed them on .

I'm not sure where to start with this or where to post but need some urgent advice:

Myself and my partner have been struggling with high bills at present and have been trying to cut our bills as much as possible. This has resulted in us getting our meat from the local butcher and we have seen a great reduction in price.
We have been buying from the butcher for about 6 months now and been trying different meats and been saying to the butchers to let us know of any other meats and have got quite friendly with the staff.

I was quite shocked to learn the other day the chap who normally serves us arrived at the house Monday morning with a big black bag. We were shocked to see him as we discussed where we lived but he'd never been round to the house. He said it's a new type of meat alot of people are liking at the moment but couldn't sell it to us in the shop. He said it was free as we'd been good customers.

To cut a long story short we ended up with cutlets of Swan which we ended up eating on Monday and Tuesday night. It was really good quality meat so mentioned this to a good friend of ours who said that eating this meat is illegal and should never mention this to anyone.

Has anyone else tried Swan? Is this illegal?

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: OMG!! Ummm I'm all up for money saving and forgive me, I don't know your financial situation in any greater detail than what you've stated but why would you eat something someone turned up with in a black bag and said they couldn't sell to you in their shop??? Hmmm I really don't want to sound like a judgmental mare and that's what I'm doing but it just sounds like such a questionable situation. I'm sorry I really don't mean any offence but I couldn't help but comment on this one! :AAs for the legalities, I shudder to think!

  • SS? Noooooo I like to live life on the edge! All put through manned tills......just took two boxes on the last occasion and SA counted 120 into a carrier bag! :D

Remember the £2 a case beer? Well I tipped him off to it on that night and we shared what was in the store half half....he's youngish and looked like he would 'deal' if approached lol.....

......so now I have friendly SA's in expresses as well as all other types of tescos!

    £2 beer:eek: what did I miss?

Just wanted to say thanks to French Knickers - I tried the woopsies last nite - was there about 7.30 and they were all reduced. The meat wasn't great - but there were people killing each other to get at it. The fruit and veg was lettuce and parsnips lol - so i left them, but I got bread and baps down to 29p, one lady had filled her trolley to the brim with bread, ( but I teold myself she was feeding a shelter or something ) and just left it !

    You are very welcome. :)

Its worth trying 2 or 3 stores if you have them local to find out the one that does the best reductions, sus out the times they generally do it and to find the ones which don't risk life and limb getting the bargains.

Its not an exact science and takes a bit of time and effort in the beginning but once you've sussed a store out, the savings can be massive.

  •:eek::eek: did u know u were eating swan? sorry i av dn't no if it's illegal and never tried it:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Sorry I did say I cut a long story short.

He brought around the whole Swan and did explain to us it was a Swan he caught the day before at the local pond.

I am so worried since my friend told me that I still have the carcass in the house and haven't chucked it out yet. What should I do?!
