    bought one in the finchley O2 center, was reduced and i got an extra 200 nectar points! there is one left down there so get it fast! great buy made some bread today, smells and tastes great! bread in only 75 min!

    How are you getting on with these - I'd like to know as I've just bought one, but will bring it back if they're are not good. It appears to be on-sale in Argos for £69.99 ?

    I have had this one for about 18 months and have used it a lot, I also know someone else with the same one. I am looking to DUMP it and get a different one. At 1st it seemed the bees-knees but its proved impossible to make bread as light as other peoples machines. The problem is this machine is a compact, the bread tin sits upright. This has the advantage of making a loaf with uniform slices for sandwiches and small crust at one end. The major problem is that the rising bread has to force the weight of the entire loaf up the tin and makes more dense heavy bread than machines with horizontal tins. Also the machine mechanical quality is rubbish, both our machines have had the blade spindle seize up and my solution has been to strip and lubricate with high temperature copper grease. When the blade reverses to fold itself out of the dough it often unlocks the tin from its latches and makes the most horrendous banging noise. It also makes very loud beeps. Having a tall tin means much more crusty at the bottom than the top too.

    I only use mine now as a glorified mixer to make dough which I bake in a silicon bread tin in the oven - much better results, until I get enough Nectar points for different machine.

    By the way Lidl permanently have excellent white bread flour at 49p a bag. Stick a handful of Allbran in a food processor until crumbed up, use to replace about 20% of the flour in your recipe - result pretty much like wholemeal bread.

    Bought one in Poole Alder road Sainsburys on Thursday, another one left (on floor near aisle end) if anyone wants one. Tried a white loaf, seems fine to me and very similar to my now defunct Prima breadmaker which I have had for several years but use rarely.
    It is probably not as good as the Panasonic, but then, its a quarter the price.
    Interested to hear about LIDL bread flour, will deff check that out as its expensive.
    My tip for lighter wholemeal is to use half white and half wholemeal flour - absolutely delicious and much lighter in texture than all wholemeal.
  • I have had this model since the Morphy Richards sale last year and have been using it most days. All was great and I was really impressed, however the paddle is refusing to turn any more. I have tried oiling it and using force to fix it but it is wedged really tightly. I rang MR and they say that when cleaning the bread tin after using it I should not get the underside wet at all and just clean the inside of the tin as it is probably water that has caused this to jam up. They are sending a replacement bread tin out but it's not in stock for 6 weeks.
    So for £20 it's good value, but with regular use it don't think it will keep going for years.

    Been using this quite regularly for the past couple of weeks and cant really fault it this so far. Tried a couple of ready mixed from Lidl for 99p for 2 loaves and they were quite nice.

    Its worth noting that these come with 2 years warranty so worst case scenario it will cost you £10 per annum.

    I have had this breadmaker for 5 years. It does have probs as others have said. The touch panel on the top of mine has broken twice, luckily I have a mechanically minded other half. I too have had trouble with the paddle siezing up and it has had to go up to the shed for some de-siezing. Also I agree the bread tends to be heavy so I also usually just make dough and cook it in the oven. The only exception seems to be Hovis granary bread mix which always comes out perfect. i didn't know the bit aobut not getting the underneath wet and will avoid that in future.

    How did you do this ? WD40 or just brute force ?
    i didn't know the bit aobut not getting the underneath wet and will avoid that in future.

    I don't know whether it could also be when it is set to do an overnight job and water is sitting in the pan for several hours. Some of this water might seep through where the paddle is ? It certainly has traces of the brown gooey bread mixture underneath the bread pan as well.
