I think you need to look at the job descriptions for the bank posts you are interested in. You can't expect people on here to be able to tell you the answers to everything (I'm not being rude). A lot of hospitals are minimising their bank/agency use though and wards tend to stick with booking people that they know when possible.

I think there were something like 150-200 applications for the last HCA job on my ward!

It was only a temporary contract!

They are standard generic band 2 national job profiles...

That's not what he should be looking at. Each individual job advert on the NHS Jobs website has a job description which states essential/desired criteria. It is usually only the specialist HCA roles that require a NVQ.
  • Sorry, I disagree.

When you're 20 years old and about to be a student for 4 years is not the time to be overly worried about saving for a deposit on a flat.

Concentrate on remaining solvent, doing well in your studies and taking on extra responsibilities of a voluntary nature that will enhance your CV.

Your well within your rights to disaggree and respect your opinions. But in my veiw I am best to get all the work I can in now to boost my deposit then I have less need to work alot whilst in study.

You see where I am coming from?

    HCA was dropped around 2003.

Factor 2 , KTE for Band 2 CSW required S/NVQ II minimum. The job description must be compatible with the factor outcomes contained within the job profile and also meet the person requirements of the KSF outline.

Is this just hospitals? I am classed as a hcsw (dunno what band) salary 11,278 per annum. And I didn't need an nvq2

I don't know if you have misunderstood me, there are numerous HCA (health care assistant) jobs available on searching the NHS jobs site. 52 to be exact. Our trust still uses the term when advertising vacancies.

That salary is less than bottom of band 1. Obviously your employer is applying their own job rates so I can't comment on you circumstances.

Is this a care home perhaps?

No misunderstanding. The HR staff placing the vacancy ads need to update their (very) outdated terminology.
