You can use multiple iPods/iPhones on the same computer, and you can use iPhones/iPods across multiple computers.

You might want to de-select the automatically sync option.

you can synchronize 1 account with 5-6 phones/ipods or whatever you had if I remember it correctly. We use to do this with friends, for example bought tom tom navigation and shared the price. because all of our 3 iphones are authorized with that account.
