I had similar problems with my Vauxhall - dealership saying that they had carried out work when they blatantly hadn't.
I did complain to the service manager but got no where so in the end had to go to Vauxhall Customer Services, who to be honest did nothing more than I had done myself.
I would try Trading Standards or go through your local citizens advice bureau
  • Thanks again to everyone for their replies. I am extremely grateful. I will be contacting Egg on Thursday. I'll post what happens next.
  • Oops, I forgot to ask. Do egg stipulate a time limit that you must register the claim in?

    Thanks

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
You could also try looking at the Sale and Supply of Goods and Services Act. - It's basically the twin to Sale of Goods Act for services. It would seem that you havea case there.
Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!
  • I got a letter from Arnold Clark today. they said that they are looking into it. I hope they look into it better than they looked into my car. I'll keep you posted.
  • Hi,
I think that I am going to have to try Egg to see what they can do as I'm not getting anywhere with arnold Clark. I received a letter from their service manager apologising and he asked me to bring my car back in and it will be looked at by a "senior" tecnician. Stuff that!!!
I was wondering if anyone has the number to call for the egg line that deals with the disputes?

So what would you expect them to do about your issue? They have offered to get someone on the case and fix the problems ...Seems fair to me.
  • After reading the comments on here http://www.arnoldclark.worldonline.co.uk/emails/otherspage.html
I don't want them to touch my car again. I would rather that they refunded some of the labour cost that they charged me for and clearly didn't do (item not as described!!!) and I will get the work doen elsewhere. Stay clear of Arnold Clark everyone!

If there is something they have not done in the service then you should get the cost of the part and the labour charge refunded and that is according to trading standards (but they are a waste of time in my experiance) that of course is in england not sure what the law is in scotland, as I had problems with the garage I had my car serviced with and I refused to pay what they were asking and they eventually gave a discount.
  • Thanks Blondie7. I think that it is only fair that they reimburse some of the labour charge as they have billed me for a service that I didn't recieve. You are also right about trading standards, they are hopeless.
