I have a WD MYBookWorld NAS drive and a while ago it lost all of my shared directories. I managed to recover a load of photos (long story) a while ago and never used the drive since. I've just started looking at it again and I think my data is still on there, but I can't quite get to it.
I have logged in to the drive with putty and run fdisk -l, which gives me :
Disk /dev/sda: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 5 249 1959936 fd Linux raid autodetect
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/sda2 249 280 256992 fd Linux raid autodetect
Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/sda3 280 403 988000 fd Linux raid autodetect
Partition 3 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/sda4 403 121601 973522944+ fd Linux raid autodetect
Which, to me, seems to suggest my data is on /dev/sda4?
I'm trying to mount the filesystem on a new mount point (/media/temp), using :
mount -t etc3 /dev/sda4 /media/temp
but this is giving me this message:
mount: Mounting /dev/sda4 on /media/temp failed: Device or resource busy
Anyone able to make any suggestions as to what I could try next?

Oh and plus where are you trying to mount it , on a linux box ? because I suppose it is a Network share so you can't use /dev/sda4 for a network drive4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Oops, yeah that's rightdebitcardmayhem wrote: »Oh and plus where are you trying to mount it , on a linux box ? because I suppose it is a Network share so you can't use /dev/sda4 for a network drive
The drive has a linux os on it, so that's where I'm trying to do it.0 -
Then it will be busy , the nas drive will have it already in use. try df or df -k perhapsOops, yeah that's right

Doesn't that just show available space on a mounted fs, or am I missing something?0 -
Yep but it shows if it is working, are you having problems accessing it elsewhere. Try ls -altr whatever-it-is-mounted-onDoesn't that just show available space on a mounted fs, or am I missing something?4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . I think the problem is that it's not mounted anywhere, so I can't get to the data on it.0 -
Not even on the NAS ?? if that is true then try fsck /dev/sda4I think the problem is that it's not mounted anywhere, so I can't get to the data on it.
edit ---- although it should do that if needed at power on.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -

that's right, I can't see it at all
Unfortunately, looks like i've only got a subset of linux on the drive. No sign of fsck0
